Thermal Constants Analysis of Graphene/RT28 HC Nanocomposite and Preparation Technique
The effect of adding graphene nanomaterial to the RT28 HC phase change material (PCM) was discussed and analyzed. The complexity of the nanocomposite preparation process was accentuated and briefly described. Graphene nanomaterial was added to the RT28 HC in a 0.5% mass fraction. Transient Plane Source (TPS) method was used to investigate the thermal constants of RT28 HC phase change material and graphene-enhanced nanocomposite. It was found that the addition of graphene nanoparticles improves specific thermal properties of the base PCM such as thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity while decreasing others such as volumetric specific heat capacity. The thermal conductivity and diffusivity were increased by 12.5% and 15.8%, respectively. The volumetric specific heat capacity was decreased by 3.6%. The residual graph showed that the nanocomposite sample was not properly homogenized, i.e. nanoparticles were not well dispersed. Therefore, the preparation technique should be further improved.
