Twin pregnancy after induction by clomiphene citrate in separate horns of bicornuate uterus
INTRODUCTION: A bicornuate uterus results from abnormal fusion of the Muellerian ducts or lack of absorption of the septum thus forming an anomalous uterus with two uterine horns and single common cervical canal. Uterine anomalies are associated with adverse reproductive outcomes. Twin pregnancy in bicornuate uterus is extremely rare. The incidence is unknown. In the review of literature we have found only one paper describing the similar case. OBJECTIVE: We report a case of twin pregnancy in separate horns of bicornuate uterus after ovulation induced by clomiphene citrate, complicated with chronic arterial hypertension. We hope to encourage discussion about management of such cases: should early cerclage be beneficial or not? Is bed rest necessary or inutile? Would progesterone applied vaginally or orally change the prospects?
