Influence of UV Radiation on Shielding Efficiency of Conductive Textile Materials
Conductive textile materials among many other applications are used as electromagnetic shield in protection against electromagnetic radiation. Various materials such as silver, copper, carbon and other metals are combined with textiles in order to produce conductive textile materials. Shielding efficiency (SE) is most important parameter in defining the quality of an electromagnetic shield. The paper describes the measurement method for determining the shielding efficiency. Textiles tend to be affected by ultraviolet light from the Sun. Several conductive textile materials have been exposed to sun UV radiation (measured in W/m2) and shielding efficiency of exposed materials have been calculated and compared with the non-exposed materials.
