COMPARISON OF FUNCTIONAL PROPERTIES OF POLYOXYMETHYLENE AND BIODEGRADABLE MATERIALS IN THE PRODUCTION OF PRINTING PLATES FOR RELIEF PRINTING
In this paper the thermal, mechanical and surface properties of polyoxymethylene (POM), a material which is currently being used for letterpress printing plates (relief printing and hot stamping), and a mixture of polycaprolactone (PCL), polylactic acid (PLA) with the addition of coconut fibers were compared. Results have shown that with the proper selection of the components in the mixture is possible to create biodegradable material that matches with the properties of the commercial polyoxymethylene. The addition of fibers in the mixture of PCL and PLA is of great importance because their addition affects the final properties of the prepared material.
