TRAVEL TIME MODELS FOR ORDER-PICKING
Order-picking is the most costly activity in warehouse operations. Using a specific routing policy could significally reduce travel distance in order-picking process, and by that travel time and cost. In this paper an analytical model for Largest Gap heuristic routing policy is presented, based on existing models for S-Shape and Return heuristic routing policies. On the basis of comparison with simulation obtained results, the analysis of models and a brief comparison between observed routing policies are also presented.
