Changing patterns of migration in Croatia
Since migration cannot be understood without an insight into the complex social and historical circumstances, the socio-historically contextualized periodization of the migration in Croatia is presented at the very beginning (including a brief outline of migration from Croatia to Austria). However, the focus is on the changes and possible changes in migration patterns in the period after Croatian accession to the European Union (2013). Namely, the interaction of the complex social processes at different social levels has made Croatia at the same time emigration, transition and (mostly potential, but still increasingly) immigration country, i.e. it resulted in a change in the complexity of migration pattern. Finally, with a view to reflecting on possible immigration to Croatia, the results of the survey conducted in 2009 on a representative sample of Croatian adult citizens are presented.
