According to the results of the twig analisis a damage prognosis is given so that protective measures can be prepared. The most singificant pests and diseases in Croatia in the year 2000 were: Microspahaera alphitoides, Armilaria sp., Cryphonectria parasitica ; oak defoliators Operophtera brumata, Erranis defoliaria, Tortrix viridana, Thaumetopea processionea, Euproctis chrysorrhoea, Apethimus abdominalis. Other pests that made damage to Croatian forests were: Lymantria dispar, Thaumetopoea pitiyocampa, bark beetles, oak acorn consumers, Argyresthia fundella, other biotic factors such as mistletoes and abiotic factors such as drought.
