Prevalenc of Cysticerus Bovis S Inermis Measles with Particular Reference to Histopathological Changes in Meat
The analysis was made of the results of the examination for Cysticercus bovis s. inermis in the meat of the cattle slaughtered in the slaughterhouse ''Pomurka'' in Murska Sobota in the Republic of Slovenia in the 1965-1991 period. The average number of infected cattle varied from 0.000-0.78 % and the total number amounted to 0.26 % a year (n = 440 944). Of importance is the trend of the increased infected cattle, the number of infected cattle in 1991 being almost four times higher than that in 1965. The cysticercosis observed was for the most part mild, because the number of the findings of extensive cysticercosis amounted to 1.5 % in relation to the total number of infected head of cattle. Regarding the predilection sites, the prevalence of C. bovis in beef was recorded in the following order: 1. the heart = 62.62 %, 2. chewing muscles = 27.14 %, and 3. other muscles and organs = 10.38 %. The age of the process in beef was assessed according to the measles dimensions and characteristic pathohistological changes (connective-tissue infiltration, fibroblasts, fibrocytes, interstitial myositis, eosinophilic granulocytes, and the like) within 30-200 or more days.
