Distributed H-inf based control of Electrical Power Systems
In this work the problem of optimal network frequency control in electrical power systems is considered. The overall power system consists of several subsystems distributed over a network. A control synthesis approach is presented which synthesizes a distributed feedback controller for a network consisting of several subsystems distributed over an arbitrary graph. The results are compared with the classical decentralized controller, the centralized H-inf solution and a distributed model predictive control approach.

KIVI-NIRIA Prize for best master thesis in Systems and Control: On February 22, 2012 Ir. Gerben Dekker received an award for the best masterthesis in Systems and Control for the year 2010. The award is issued by the RoyalDutch Institute for Engineers (KIVI NIRIA) and it aims to promote and disseminatethe research on control and its applications for companies, industry and society.Last week, the prize has been issued during a special event at ASML in Veldhoven. The masters research of Gerben Dekker was on Distributed H-infinity basedcontrol of Electrical Power Systems. It involved the implementation andgeneralization of an LMI based algorithm for distributed control, applied to anetwork of power generators. The research was coached by Andrej Jokic and SiepWeiland.
