Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Entrepreneurship: Exploring Models of Inter-organizational Relationships
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to explore the interrelatedness of corporate social responsibility and social entrepreneurship in theory and identify models that illustrate the nature of inter-organizational relationships forging social and business linkages. Design/methodology/approach: This paper provides a review of the concepts of corporate social responsibility, social entrepreneurship as well as related terms to reexamine approaches to defining, understanding and framing their parallel and interwoven pathways. Findings: The ties between CSR and SE can be seen as developing due to enhanced stakeholder involvement and calls for accountability. The convergence in realms of business activity and social impact can be positive or negative, long-term or short-term and new forms are continuing to evolve. Research limitations/implications: This conceptual paper sets up future empirical research to further explore codependent and interdependent relations between organizations who appear to engage in CSR and SE initiatives using multi-model approaches to test theories in practice. Originality/value: The research has led to creating a composite analysis for onward interpretation and invitation for cross sector and cross context collaboration.
