Pre-Imperial coinage from Sisak
Some 140 Pre-Imperial coins (issued before or in 31 B.C.) were found in the area of modern Sisak. The vast majority are stray finds, while only several specimens were recovered during archaeological excavations. Also, a large number of coins, in one way or another, come from the Kupa. The largest number of specimens are Roman Republican coins, but Celtic/Iron Age coinage is also represented in significant numbers. The richness and diversity of finds testifies to the strategic and economic importance of Segestica in the Pre-Imperial period.
