The future of energy

Environmental concerns caused by rapidly ncreasing levels of greenhouse gas emissions have driven governments worldwide to take significant steps and create policies and strategies for a large-scale transition toward low-carbon technologies aiming at achieving carbon neutrality by the mid-21st century. In Europe this is strongly supported by the European Commission (EC) and legally binding target for renewable energy sources to cover 20% by 2020 and 27% by 2030 of the total energy consumption in the European Union (EU), as well as goals for transformation of the heating, cooling and transportation sector. These regulatory decisions have been recently additionally stimulated by the largest economy plan, called the Green Deal, capturing activities going beyond energy and capturing all aspects of our lives.
