Stone-mason's workshops in Istria: Records of funerary monuments

The types of funerary monuments in Istria and their territorial distribution compared to the administrative borders are discussed. The majority of monuments was made of local Istrian limestone. In the Augustan period, steles made of local sandstone were popular out of the territory of Roman colonies. Finds of unfinished marble funerary monuments in Pula indicate the local workshops.
