The protection of people and property from various dangers that threaten them has always been of particular importance for both the individual and society as a whole. The provision of such protection is possible only on the basis of the principles of reciprocity and solidarity. Undoubtedly, the motive and expediency of such protection is compensation for damages. Basically, such expediency of insurance means protection of people and property, which is directly in function of supporting the economic development. Insurance is considered as a very important social area, especially if we take into account the complexity of the mechanisms applied in the field of insurance. When talking about insurance, it should be emphasized that it contains mechanisms of economic and legal nature. Special attention is paid to this activity, from the aspect of the economic character of the insurance and reinsurance. The functions, organization, division and types of insurance and reinsurance will be considered separately. Insurance has its own specific economics, given the complexity of the mechanisms applied in this area.
