The Use of Statistical Methods in the Healthcare Process Improvement
A successful transformation to better performance doesn't succeed in some organizations and fail in others because of sheer luck. That could be applied to healthcare institutions as well. The key to a successful transformation to efficient organization is proper implementation of improvement methodologies. In nowadays organization must adhere to an established implementation model which is consisted of two main methodologies for quality and efficiency improvement such as Lean and Six Sigma. The basis of the mentioned methodologies is methods form the area of operations research which includes a considerable amount of statistical tools. Scope of the research was to apply the adequate statistical tools and methods in the case of the lack of data and information which has been found as one of the main issues. This paper presents the use of specific statistical methods in process of implementation of lean methodology in largest Croatian healthcare organization. The methods and principles are substantiated with the real data and analysis procedures.
