The mathematical description of population growth has attracted many scholars since ancient times. In his groundbreaking work, Introductio in analysin infinitorum (Introduction to the Analysis of the Infinite), Leonhard Euler presented six examples related to the exponential and logarithmic functions, of which as many as four are concerned with population growth models.
