Rudne pojave Medvednice
Medvednica, a mounitain north of Zagreb, bears a number of small ore occurrences which have been mined since the 17th century. Its peculiar position on the border of the Dinaric orogeny system and Pannonian basin, perpendicular to the general alignment of Dinarides, varieties of metamorphic and igneous rocks, particularly greenstones, attracts attention. The presented paper is intended to give a short description of still accessible old mining works or outcrops. Genetic consideration should be regarded with certain caution since they were done with limited geological data. There is no economic importance of the deposits, but they might be extremely useful in some future geochemical or isotopical investigation directed to solve still uncertain knowledge of Medvednica geological evolution.
