Mechanochemical synthesis and structural characterization of bimetallic and hybrid tetrahydridoborates

In this PhD thesis, the applicant has investigated more than 100 mechanochemical reactions of monometallic and bimetallic borohydride compounds with different alkaline, earthalkaline and transition metal imidazolates. The most important scientific contributions of the research include the development of a new and more efficient synthetic route for the preparation of the hybrid compound Li2ImBH4, the discovery of a new group of imidazole compounds containing alkali and earthalakline metal centres, the development of a new synthetic route for the preparation of crystalline magnesium imidazolate and the discovery of the high-temperature polymorph of sodium imidazolate. This PhD dissertation has deepened our understanding of the reactivity of metallic borohydride with metal imidazolates and highlighted the importance of further research into the group of metal imidazolates, a group of compounds that has been particularly unexplored. The findings that led to Sanja Burazer's research as part of her doctoral dissertation were original scientific contributions to the field of inorganic and structural chemistry, and part of the results were published in 2019 in Inorganic Chemistry.
