NEW TECHNOLOGIES – A CHALLENGE FOR THE LEGAL PROFESSION
Legal profession has proven to be a cornerstone of functioning of all societies ultimately deriving their foundation from the great Graeco- Roman tradition. In the world of today, this has meant that the legal profession as so understood necessarily appeared wherever modern Western school of thought took hold. Despite being able to claim such historical and geographical prominence however, legal profession it its contemporary state seems to be beset by a necessity to confront, adapt to and work with a veritable variety of new technologies. The purpose of this paper therefore is to present this process of interaction between the modern legal profession and new technologies, first by way of a descriptive analysis of the functioning of the legal profession with respect to the current state of technology and then by identifying major points of contention between technological breakthroughs standing before us and legal profession in general and legal framework regarding the functioning of the legal profession in particular. The last part of the paper is dedicated to a de lege ferenda analysis regarding future change of the legal framework regarding the functioning of the legal profession in this regard.
