Uncommon Sense Approach in Business Models

Business ecosystem, being touched by the digital disruption, fundamentally shifts established ways of thinking, operating and dealing with competition. Consequently, many of the established models and prhoneses strategic management has revolved and fragmented around are challenged. Since the enlarged business context, whether real of virtual, interfere, the need for integrative frameworks or theoretical platforms that fit and facilitate successful operating in such an augmented reality becomes salient. Therefore, this study imports the dynamic capabilities framework as the balancing performing platform for the real and virtual arenas firm’s operate in parallel. By relaying on the integrative nature of the framework, we use its stated weakness of not being developed in a theory with defined boundaries, and turn it into strength to be of use for creating genuine business models, as well as for the business model’s renewal. We propose the new applicability of the dynamic capabilities, underpinned by the organizational and managerial capacities, sustained with abductive reasoning. We build our conceptualization on using the elements of Ba platform to balance real and virtual business arenas and so to embed the dynamic capability view into augmented business ecosystem, named here firm’s unbounded reality. The proposed extension of the framework, promotes and validates it as a strategic managing mode, and as a dynamic integrative platform, aimed at balancing strategic choices for competitive outcomes.
