Looking Beyond the Crises: Impact of Mass Migrations on the Local, Regional, National and EU Governance
Although large movements of refugees and migrants are not a new phenomenon and both voluntary migration and forced displacement have been part of the human history, the recent events in 2015 and 2016 has set up a new scene in regard to migration governance in Europe and the rest of the world. Mass movements of people, involving both refugees and other migrants and widely described as ‘migration crises’, have severely tested response capacities of the states and regions around the globe. In that, migration crisis created a strong scientific interest in many themes interwoven with mass migrations, their causes, management, and short- and long-term consequences for public governance, politics, policies, service delivery, and administration.
