Public Administration Study Programmes in Eastern Europe
The aim of this presentation is to provide a comparative analysis of public administration education programmes in Eastern Europe post- socialist countries, that are geographical, cultural, political, and/or historical interconnected. Those countries were part of the former Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia and currently are (potential) candidates for EU membership (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia), plus Croatia. In addition, we analysed changes in public administration education programmes in the time span of 5 years in those countries. The comparative analysis is based on the programmes of higher education institutions and information collected via web sites of the institutions. It includes analyses of the main orientation of the PA curricula, levels of education and character of the institutions offering PA education. The PA education programmes have been identified by reviewing the names of the courses offered within the programmes. Public as well as private university institutions and polytechnics have been included in the analyses.
