Effect of harvest date and cut height upon the yield components of sage
Besides achieving a high yield of herbage and essential oil, it is necessary to get more informations about content of essential oil in different stages of plant development, as well as in separated parts of dalmatian sage plants. The first herbage harvest was carried out 9 times (weekly, till the stage of seed ripening), and the second one 70-100 days later. The highest yields of fresh herbage and essential oil were achieved with the lower cut (10 cm above soil), in the period from full flowering to seed ripening. The highest content of essential oil was in the primordia, with a- and b-thujones as main components.
