How the power was seized: Yugoslavian parliamentary elections of 1945
This paper will show how the communists in Yugoslavia used and abused various methods in the electoral campaign and the election process. Most attention will be devoted to the misuse of their positions to suppress the power of other forces that could run for the parliamentary seats in 1945. The hypothesis of this research is that the Communist Party of Yugoslavia, unlike many other communist parties in the wider region, used their strong positions and support acquired during the War to organize the first post-war parliamentary elections as a major referendum pole, with the goal of gaining absolute power in the country.
