Building diagnostic through infrared thermography images

Heat loss is one of the most important aspects in buildings. These concerns not only the pathology of building structures but also the use of inadequate materials in terms of adaptation to environmental conditions. Using the Infra-Red images is considered an important tool to identify problems related to this issue. But let's look back and understand the history of this tool. IR Thermography was first introduced as a screening tool in the 1950s and since then this discipline has been continuously developed finding great application especially in the field of construction. The purpose of this paper is to describe the thermography and its principles upon which it is based, including its advantages and disadvantages and its possible applications. Moreover, thermography explains how it can help us control the flow of the heat, air and moisture and the reason why these factors are important and should be considered together. Infrared thermography defines accurate measurements of infrared radiation thus allowing the surface temperature of buildings to be easily measurable based on the simple laws of physics. Here are interpreted the cases of two countries. Therefore, through the introduction of IR images of various buildings in Croatia and Kosovo, heat loss from the building envelope will be presented, including the measures taken to reduce losses and maintain this heat. To sum up, this paper aims to show the importance and the value of IR imaging in the structural deformation of buildings related to thermal emission. Moreover, the development in these areas and the recent progress have been used as a better opportunity to interpret these images.
