The so-called Ohmućević Genealogy (Kraljeva Sutjeska Genealogy) in the Light of the Results of Recent Iconographic, Historical, Heraldry, and Restoration Research Papers

Over the last few years, quite a few authors have researched the so-called Ohmučević genealogy which was associated with the painting the Dead Christ and the Donor (Bosnian King Stjepan Tomaš?) by Lovro Dobričević from the Strossmayer Gallery in Zagreb. The genealogy and the painting come from the Franciscan monastery of Kraljeva Sutjeska (Bosnia and Herzegovina). The paper seeks to present the results of recent iconographic, historical, heraldry and restoration research on the genealogy. The author will also stress some historical facts related to the Kraljeva Sutjeska "double relic" that a Croatian historian Stjepan Ćosić, has recently written about. The author, among other things, shows that in the interpretation of the so-called Sutjeska genealogy of the Ohmučević family - which includes the coats of arms of Illyrian and Slavic kingdoms - it should be borne in mind that it manifests the New-Era conception of nation saying that the Bosnian kingdom is the core of Illyria. It is important to note that when the mentioned genealogy was made the former Bosnian Kingdom was under the rule of the Ottoman Turks. As an expression of the idea of the then ideological reintegration, the coats of arms of the Illyrian countries (Bosnia, Herzegovina, Rascia, Croatia and Dalmatia) are connected to the composite coat of arms in the Sutjeska genealogy. At the end of the paper, the author will refer to the museal challenge, the future presentation of the image of Christ and the Ruler, and of the Sutjeska genealogy, since 2010 when the mentioned genealogy was stored in a separate folder deposited in the Gallery storage room i.e. it and has no longer been exhibited in the Gallery.
