Social Data Analytics: Representativeness of Social Datasets and Examples from the Political Domain
Online social networks (OSN) are among few technologies which have had the most significant impact on society, governments and businesses during the last decade. As a result, in 2017 Facebook has 2 billion monthly active users (what accounts for around half of worldwide Internet users), followed by WhatsApp, YouTube and Facebook Messenger who have more than a billion users. All these OSN users continuously produce huge amounts of social data through their various activities such as posting content or interacting with other users. Researchers, business practitioners and governments can use social data for new scientific findings, advancing businesses or improving quality of life. Therefore, in the next three paragraphs, we will present three research questions from the domain of social data analytics.
