Growth and biosynthesis of aflatoxin B1 by Aspergillus parasiticus in the presence of newly synthesized derivative of tetraketone
The effect of newly synthesized derivative 5-aryl-5-hydroxy-2-/aryl-1-(hydroxyimino/ethyl/1-cyclohexanone, on growth and aflatoxin B1 accumulation by mould Aspergillus parasiticus NRRL 2999 was studied in yeast extract-sucrose (YES) medium to determine the possible use of this compound as mean of controlling aflatoxin B1 accumulation.Experiments were carried out in a stationary culture at temperatures of 20 and 30oC, respectively, for 28 days.Mycelial dry weights were determined gravimetrically, and concentration of aflatoxin B1 was measured using a Camag TLC Scanner.
