Training needs in the field of autism of contemporary Polish teachers in the context of the international ASD-EAST project

The paper presents results relating to Polish teachers obtained within an international survey regarding teachers’ opinions regarding characteristics of autism and specific educational approaches and treatment. Research was undertaken in Poland under the auspices of the ASD-EAST project using quantitative as well as qualitative methods. The results showed significant differences in teachers’ perception about both the characteristics of autism and educational approaches/treatment regarding to the school settings in which they worked. The need for special training in the field of ASD was identified in teachers’ responses, who predicted valuable benefits from the course planned for support the positive effect of inclusive education of children with ASD.
