Bosnian/Croatian/Montenegrin/Serbian: Notes on contact and conflict
The paper examines some of the recent developments concerning language and language policies in former Yugoslavian republics where Standard Štokavian is in use (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia). Recent examples of language contact (like some common developments in phonology and morphology, as well as lexical borrowing) are shortly discussed, as well as recent political issues concerning language, such as the opposition to Cyrillic script in Croatia, school segregation in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia, Declaration on the Common Language.
