Early Education Institution as a Place for Creating a Culture of Collaborative Relationships

Collaborative culture is an important dimension of the development and improvement of the quality of education in early education institutions, which is related to the joint work of preschool teachers and professional associates through joint analysis, team approach and joint responsibility for the educational process. Collaborative culture is characterized by high-quality relationships based on understanding and acceptance, recognizable by the culture of two-way, reciprocal and respectful communication between preschool teachers and all other subjects, and by mutual support on issues directly and indirectly affecting the educational process, making this segment necessary for further progress of the educational institution. This implies a common reflection, realization and evaluation of the educational process, aimed at continually raising its quality. In order to achieve this, relations within the institution among the mentioned subjects should be respectful, equitable and encouraging, and mutual relationship with respect and trust. It is therefore important to cultivate a culture of open discussion and dialogue characterized by the existence of feelings of unthreatened and acceptance of all members of the institution, despite differences of opinion, in which they analyse and reflect one's actions rather than attack his personal integrity. Such relations are the basis for the development of collaborative relations in early education institutions and at the same time for the improvement of educational work. The study was conducted on a random sample of N=680 preschool teachers from Croatia (35%), Serbia (40.4%) and Slovenia (24.6%) within the scientific research project Culture of Educational Institution as a factor of co- structuring knowledge at the Faculty of Teacher Education, University of Rijeka. For the purpose of data collection, we used the Questionnaire for the assessment of the culture of the educational institution designed for the needs of the aforementioned project. The aim of the research was to gain insight into the preschool teachers' assessment of the relationship between people in early education institutions as one of the dimensions of the institutional culture, given the country in which they live and work. There was a statistically significant difference in the preschool teachers' assessment of the relationship between people in early education institutions considering their state of residence.
