Use of Information and Communications Technology for Teaching Cultural Heritage Contents in Primary School

Cultural heritage is a part of the identity of every nation, so it is important that already students on the elementary level of primary school understand the importance of cultural heritage and are acquainted with how to nurture and preserve it. In our empirical research, we were focused on the teaching cultural heritage content with the use of information and communications technology. Research sample is comprised of 395 teachers from Slovene primary schools and 345 teachers from Croatian primary schools. The results show that 76.2% of teachers in Slovenia and 86.7% of teachers in Croatia use information and communication technology while teaching cultural heritage content. There were no statistically significant differences between the participating teachers in regards to their years of working experiences. The results showed statistically significant differences between the participating teachers in regards to the location of the primary school. Teachers in rural areas are using information communication technologies for cultural heritage lessons in greater amount than their colleagues in urban elementary schools. Information communication technology is most often used in classrooms as a presentation toll and as a tool for alternative form of examination.
