Mill and Arneson on Paternalism and Plural Voting
The paper addresses Arneson's claim regarding inconsistency between Mill's On Liberty and Considerations on Representative Government. While Arneson argues that plural-voting proposal indicates paternalistic approach in Mill's political philosophy, the paper argues that citizens might have a duty to consent to plural-voting proposal and to recognize its legitimacy. The duty comes from the harm we might inflict upon others if we do not use epistemically the best decision-making procedure.
