Epistemic Democracy and Informal Political Public Sphere
The paper analyses Estlund's epistemic difference principle and argues that it should be rejected in favor of political egalitarianism. Namely, any unequal distribution of political influence, even when it serves epistemic ends by increasing the total level of political input, can reasonably be rejected by qualified citizens. Latent and conjectural epistemically damaging features might be introduced through unequal political influence, and thought it need not be the case, it is not unreasonable to believe that, which blocks the argument for the unequal distribution of political influence.
