Milan Begović's _Giga Barićeva_ as a Cultural Palimpsest of the Late Empire
Milan Begović's modernist novel _Giga Barićeva_ (1940) is placed in the context of its more recent revalorization in Croatian literature. In the next sections, certain elements of the novel have been considered using the ideas of "the new woman", social assemblages and deterritorialization. It is thereby shown that the novel partakes of the multicultural ambit of the late Habsburg Empire and its imminent dissolution.
