Concept and Representation of the Invisible in 20th-Century Art - Some Examples
Thus the representation of the invisible in 20th- century art is realized through the reduction principle as a central procedure of rejecting the material in art. Reduction technique in modern abstract painting and monochromatic painting of colored field is associated with the expression of immaterial and invisible using artist’s theory or connotative meaning of the work as suggested in its name. In postmodern art, reduction approach is realized using dematerialization strategies in art object as a central procedure which is used in forming minimal, conceptual phenomena and post-structural art, here in question. Invisible art relates to dematerialization of art object to the level of annulling physical materiality, and existential and behavioral act of questioning artists’ mutual relationships gains the status of invisible art.
