Know-how I: Wittgenstein and practical certainty
In this paper, the authors examine the common- sense concept of know-how (first part) and Wittgenstein’s concept of practical certainty (second part). They then compare these two concepts and identify some similarities and differences (third part). The most important similarity is that Wittgenstein’s concept of practical certainty is a type of know-how, while among dissimilarities the most important is his concept of a primordial know-how almost as “something animal.” This analysis supports the Framework reading of On Certainty.
