The presence of mathematical games in primary school
One of the most important goals of teaching mathemat- ics that needs to be taken into account is to stimulate interest in and love for mathematics. A number of studies have confirmed that the introduc- tion of different types of educational games in mathematics education increases student interest in mathematics and has a positive impact on student achievement in different fields of mathematics. Through well- designed games that are implemented correctly in mathematics classes students acquire knowledge in a new and more interesting way and develop a positive attitude towards mathematics, which represents the greatest value and one of the basic goals of teaching mathematics. The aim of this paper is to investigate the frequency of using mathe- matical games in mathematics revision classes in the lower grades of primary school (the first cycle) and to learn about the types of games teachers use when teaching mathematics, including computer games in mathematics classes.
