Drilling waste injection
During the drilling of a borehole, large amounts of waste material are generated, especially drilled cuttings and used drilling mud. In recent history, the maximum possible reduction of waste material and disposal methods that are more environmentally friendly and safer from the aspect of human health are among the most important parts of operators’ strategies. The main advantages of injection method are minimizing potentially harmful impacts on groundwater, reducing the required surface area for waste disposal, reducing the negative impact on the air and longterm risks for the entire environment. In this paper, various injection methods will be described in detail, along with the criteria for the selection of the injection zone and the equipment required for the operation.
