Pregnancies in patients treated with 131-I for differentiated thyroid carcinoma
The aim of the study was to assess the effects of radioiodine therapy on pregnancy and health status of children born to mothers treated with 131-I for differentiated thyroid carcinoma. Data on pregnancies in 42 female patients were obtained by interviews taken during routine check-ups. Results of the study suggested that there is no reason to discourage conception in females treated with radioiodine therapy. However, conception should be avoided for at least one year after the administration of 131-I.
