STUDENTS' ATTITUDES TOWARD DIGITAL NOTE-TAKING APPLICATIONS AND PAPERLESS LEARNING IN THE HYBRID LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

The introduction of an ever-increasing number of different information and communication technology solutions (ICT) in business and education brings about certain changes which are reflected in the note-taking process in class, at all levels of education and in all its forms. In some countries, the use of digital notes in a traditional environment has replaced the traditional handwritten notes by children from an early age. However, the results of previous research and practice show that a large number of students take notes in class by using notebook and pen(cil). The aim of this paper is to explore attitudes toward digital note-taking applications and paperless learning in hybrid learning by 224 students at one of Croatian higher education institutions. The results of this research show that most students have positive attitudes toward digital note-taking applications, but that most of them prefer handwritten notes for their learning, as well as that most of them find it easier to search through their learning content online rather than to check their notebooks for notes. The findings obtained in this paper, can be the basis for further research in this area and can help all those who want to contribute to the development of e- education and the digital society.
