Seakeeping Performance in the Multi-attribute Concept Design Model of Mediterranean Fishing Vessels
Seakeeping performance of fishing vessels is relevant to efficient operation at sea. Catching campaign directly depends on environmental conditions and crew operability limits in such conditions. Finding optimal design solutions by the multi-attribute design procedure relies on a reliable design model, which is sensitive to important attributes. Here, the latest developments of the multi-attribute concept design model of fishing vessels are presented. In order to evaluate concept design model of fishing vessels, numerical experiments are made. Known parameters of a number of fishing vessels are put through the concept design model procedures and the predictions of the seakeeping-related attributes are compared with proposed new approach to sea-keeping prediction. Further on, the selected vessels are subject to search for Pareto-optimal designs, starting from known parameter data of the vessels. All variables, except two, are taken from the known vessel data. Two variables were left free within narrow limits in order to check how far the optimised results will deviate from known data of respective vessels.
