TEST METHODS FOR BEHAVIOR OF SEALING MATERIALS IN EXPLOITATION CONDITIONS EMBEDDED IN ELECTRIC POWER INDUSTRY PRODUCTS
Depending on various climatic exploitation conditions of electric power industry products, properties of embedded rubber sealing materials should be defined and tested to assure quality and resistance to harsh environmental influences. Sealing materials can be subjected to considerable ageing processes during the service life of various produts, and during that long working life of certain products abnormal events and faults could occur. In order to avoid costly breakdowns, minimize downtimes and extend the lifespan of electric power industry products an extensive knowledge of the embedded sealing materials as well as a specific and precise analysis is fundamental. Quality of sealing materials, which must exhibit weatherproofness and ultraviolet resistance, is tested and confirmed by environmental testing and accelerated ageing which includes determination of resistance to low and high temperatures, high relative humidity, high pressure and vacuum permeability, resistance to UV radiation, resistance to chemicals and mechanical resistance. Analysis of test results got by quality assurance methods for various rubber sealing materials used in production of electric power industry products will be presented in this paper.
