Hydrology of Drežničko polje in the karst (Croatia)
Drežničko polje is typical polje in the karst in the central part of Croatia. Inflow in the polje comes from three main underground diractions. From the hydrologic-hydrogeologic point of view the Drežničko polje is a part of a wider system with catchment area of about 225 km2. The annual rainfall varies from 1700 to 2200 mm with an average of about 2000 mm. Maximim volume of the Drežničko polje retention is 60 mil. m3. The polje is regulary flooded in the cold and wet periods of the year, usually from October to April. The paper deals with the complex problems of the flow in karst terrain. The conceptual SSARR model was applied for dafinition of all components of the Drežničko polje inflow and outflow. The model was applied by using the daily hydrologic and meteorologic data. In complete karst flow conditions very encourage results were achived with a general non karstic model. Especially interesting results are connected with definition of the discharge curve of the Drežničko polje swallow holes.
