Design and implementation of a small wind-photovoltaic hybrid system
This paper deals with the design principle of a small wind-photovoltaic hybrid system and implementation. An approach for designing a hybrid system has been developed, particularly for settlement applications, e.g. partly replacement of power from public network for street lights in town. The basic idea is to make use of roof surfaces of buildings as unexploited places for other use. Those surfaces are suitable for mounting hybrid systems, which consists of wind turbines and photovoltaic panels for producing power from renewable sources. For use on streets or buildings, wind turbines have to be as quiet as possible and with no vibration impact on reinforced concrete. Photovoltaic panels have to be as effective as possible and should replace roofing tiles. Some design parameters and assessment criteria will be considered with the aim to evaluating a hybrid system and simulation of implementation will be given too. A design methodology will be analyzed and proposed for use in similar cases.
