Learning-forgetting-unlearningrelearning – thelearning organization’s learning dynamics
The purpose of this paper is to conceptualize the learning dynamics of the learning organization in terms of learning-forgetting-unlearning-relearning and highlight its challenges. Conclusions and models presented in the paper have been designed based on the systems approach, critical thinking and critical review of previous contributions. Organizational unlearning and relearning could be understood as a process of revisiting, revising, rewriting, updating, modifying, adapting and adjusting the existing knowledge in the light of new circumstances. This process is followed by revisiting, revising, modifying, adapting and adjusting of organizational elements that serve as drivers of organizational routines. Relearning encompasses both unlearning and discarding of organizational knowledge and learning or gaining new insight which contributes to changes in the organizational design.
