Adult Participation in Lifelong Learning: Education for Reducing Skill Gaps with Perspective for Better Employability in Selected European Countries
The Adult participation in learning is targeted by European Commission (2010) in Europe 2020 Strategy with 15% by 2020. However, in 2017 for the EU-28 this percentage equals only 11%. Recently it has been increasing for majority of European countries but in some of them it is still at a low level, as in Spain, Cyprus, Ireland, Poland, Slovakia, Croatia and Romania. In the same time, Belgium, Germany and Italy, with highly developed economies are below the EU-28 average. Using statistical data exploration, trend analysis, cluster and regression analysis, this paper investigates the selected economic, social and digital society development indicators that might influence the Adult participation in lifelong learning. After analysing the correlations with selected six independent variables, two regression models were built for enlightening impacts on the Adult participation in learning indicator. The clusters of similar European countries are occasionally including the countries that joined them surprisingly.
