HIGHER FUNGI EXTRACTS AS INHIBITORS OF CARBON STEEL CORROSION IN 0.5 % NACL SOLUTION

The effect of fruit body extracts of higher fungi on the corrosion inhibition of carbon steel (RSt 37-2) in 0.5 % NaCl solution has been studied using Tafel polarization and microscopy techniques. The efficiency of extracts on corrosion inhibition depends on extract type and concentration. Using extracts of Boletus pinophilus and Russula nigricans moderate corrosion inhibition was determined (less then 70 %). Using some extracts of Armillaria mellea and Lactarius volemus significant corrosion inhibition was determined (around 90 %).
