The 1965 Economic Reform: Opening to the West
This study seeks to fill the gap by examining the emerging role of foreign trade development strategy in the design and implementation of the 1965 Economic Reform. The first section of this study gives a brief overview of reform efforts until the early 1960s. The second part identifies the most important factors influencing the concept of the Economic Reform. The final part shines new light on the debates in the economic and political establishment over the role of international economic relations and the regional orientation of Yugoslav foreign trade in formulation of the reform. The overall aim of this study is to highlights the importance of the Yugoslav economic relations with the West for the success of the reform and ultimately for the economic development of the country.
