Structural characterization of mercury(II) complexes with 2, 3- and 2, 4-pyridinedicarboxylic acids
The reactions of 2, 3-pyridinedicarboxylic(qinH2) acid and HgCl2 in aqueous media provided HgCl(qinH)(H2O) complex. In the above mentioned structure mercury is coordinated by the nitrogen and oxygen atoms from the qinH, two bridging chlorine atoms, a water molecule, and an oxygen from the neighbouring qinH forming dimeric molecule. The coordination can therefore be described as 2+4. By the reaction of 2, 4-pyridinedicarboxylic acid(lutH2) with HgCl2 HgCl(lutH)(lutH2)· ; ; ; 2H2O was obtained. In the HgCl(lutH)(lutH2)· ; ; ; 2H2O two ligands, lutH and lutH2, are coordinated in different manner. Coordination can be described as 2+3.
